What the site does
You give an exact make, model and model year. ModelYearFacts queries four official US sources for that literal vehicle, shows recall campaigns first, then owner complaints, then EPA configuration and fuel-economy data, and links every block back to the primary record so you can read the source yourself.
Where the data comes from
Every figure on the site comes from one of these four sources, queried live at lookup time:
- NHTSA vPIC — the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Product Information Catalog and Vehicle Listing, used only to confirm that the make, model and model year exist as a literal identity. vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov ↗

NHTSA and EPA/DOE material is US Government information. Works prepared by officers or employees of the US federal government as part of their official duties are not subject to domestic copyright protection under 17 U.S.C. § 105, and NHTSA describes the relevant safety datasets and APIs as public information that may be copied or distributed. ModelYearFacts keeps source attribution, campaign identity and stated limitations on every page that uses them. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by NHTSA, the EPA, the Department of Energy or any vehicle manufacturer.
What the site deliberately will not do
- No reliability score. Complaint volume is affected by how many vehicles were sold, how old they are, how far they are driven, publicity and reporting behaviour. Without validated exposure denominators a single number would be a guess wearing a decimal point.
- No VIN check. A recall campaign can cover only certain production dates, plants or equipment. Model-year evidence cannot tell you whether one particular car is affected; NHTSA’s VIN tool can.
- No merged markets. UK MOT, Canadian, New Zealand and European vehicle records are not folded into a US claim.
- No commerce inside the evidence. Repair-video and parts links are transparent external searches, marked as such, generated after the recall remedy is shown. They carry no affiliate identifiers and never change what the evidence blocks say.
- No invented reviewers. There is no test fleet, no panel and no expert rating behind these pages. What you see is the official record plus the arithmetic needed to summarise it.
Which pages are permanent
Any make, model and year can be researched with the lookup tool. Only 5 model-year files currently have permanent, indexable pages, because each one was individually checked for exact identity, source rights and honest empty-state behaviour before publication. Model routes outside that list return a real 404 rather than a thin generated page.

Corrections
Every recall campaign, complaint total and fuel-economy figure links to the official source that produced it. If a figure here disagrees with NHTSA or FuelEconomy.gov, the official source is correct and this site is wrong. The lookup is performed live against those APIs, so a corrected upstream record appears here on the next lookup.
