What the site does
You give an exact make, model and model year. ModelYearFacts checks official US sources for that literal vehicle, shows recall campaigns first, keeps ODI investigations and owner complaint allegations separate, then shows EPA configuration and fuel-economy data. Every block links back to the primary source.
Where the data comes from
Every vehicle figure comes from these official layers. Bounded dossier details are queried live; cross-model search, recall counts and investigation records use the reviewed imported snapshots listed on the source register:
- NHTSA vPIC — the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Product Information Catalog and Vehicle Listing, used only to confirm that the make, model and model year exist as a literal identity. vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov ↗

NHTSA and EPA/DOE material is US Government information. The source-specific permissions, public/private boundary and the transformations ModelYearFacts applies are recorded on the Method & licences page. ModelYearFacts keeps source attribution, campaign identity and stated limitations on every page that uses them. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by NHTSA, the EPA, the Department of Energy or any vehicle manufacturer.
What the site deliberately will not do
- No reliability score. Complaint volume is affected by how many vehicles were sold, how old they are, how far they are driven, publicity and reporting behaviour. Without validated exposure denominators a single number would be a guess wearing a decimal point.
- No VIN check. A recall campaign can cover only certain production dates, plants or equipment. Model-year evidence cannot tell you whether one particular car is affected; NHTSA’s VIN tool can.
- No merged markets. UK MOT, Canadian, New Zealand and European vehicle records are not folded into a US claim.
- No commerce inside the evidence. Repair-video and parts links are transparent external searches, marked as such, generated after the recall remedy is shown. They carry no affiliate identifiers and never change what the evidence blocks say.
- No invented reviewers. There is no test fleet, no panel and no expert rating behind these pages. What you see is the official record plus the arithmetic needed to summarise it.
Which pages are permanent
Every vehicle the EPA recorded as sold in the US from 1984 to 2027 has a permanent, indexable page — 10,603 model-year files. The EPA catalogue is the publication gate: a page exists only where an exact year, make and model appears in that record, so every page has real specification data behind it. A route outside the catalogue returns a real 404 rather than a thin generated page.

Every recall campaign, investigation action, complaint total, equipment notice and fuel-economy figure links to the official source that produced it. If a figure here disagrees with NHTSA, CPSC or FuelEconomy.gov, the official source is correct and this site is wrong. Live fields update after the bounded cache expires; imported projections update only after the next reviewed build.
